First bullets

I loaded up three 45 shells last night and they shot great. I used a 230gr fmj bullet with 4.4 gr of titegroup and the results were great. The only trouble I had was tring to figure out the Lee powder measure. I had to come up with a volume of .37 in order to equal 4.4 grains and I was unsure how to do that. I just kept adjusting it until the right amount came out. Im having alot of fun and its very relaxing.

[8D]You should have an instruction manual with your Lee powder measure. It breaks down the major gunpowders by their CC per grain for use on the micrometer measuring rod.Your "titegroup" is very close to Winchester (super-lit) at .0847 CC per grain, however For me it's too much trouble-I just use my PACT digital scale and thats pretty quick[:p][:p][:p][:D]

I'm only wearing Black untill they make something darker

No it wasnt but I wanted to make sure my gun wouldnt explode before I loaded anymore[B)]. As for the loader a friend of mine who has been reloading for many years told me they are not all that accurate and to just measure the powder and weigh it until the grains are correct and then start dispensing.quote:Originally posted by Throckmorton

Welcome to the ranks of the obsessed! Once you've experienced the satisfaction of shooting your own ammo, you won't go back to the dark side. [;)]

Well, welcome to 'hand-loading'. I hope that by now you will have a reloading manual and a scale for initially weighing your charges. I have a Lee Loadmaster with one of those Lee "Perfect Powder" measures with the micrometer adjustment, such as yours and it works great. Titegroup (Hogdon) powder is very reliable for reduced powder loads, and because of that very economical. But it is a little bit dirty as you noticed. But it gives you something extra to do, like cleaning your guns more often. [:D][:D][:D][8D][8D][;)]
