Anyone reload .44 mag with Universal?

Wondering if it can be done--H110 costs too much for range time. 240-gr HP's.

Let me know if you have a load. Thanks.

I just got done loading a batch of the cheapest 44 mags I have ever loaded. 200 grain RNFP lead bullet, on 4.0 grains of solo 1000, with Win LP primers. Like shooting a 22. The one nice thing about a 44 mag is virtually any powder is suitable for it, it is simply a matter of what the loads will do when you are done.

With universal, My manuals show 10.2 grains as a max on both lead and jacketed 44 mags with a 240grain bullet. 8.0 grain starting loads.

9.4 gr Universal behind Lazercast 240's is a nice load in my 7-1/2" Ruger SBH. It's accurate and doesn't lead the bbl hardly at all. I've used 8.5 gr Bullseye with the same effect. If you're looking to save money at the range, try Lazercasts. A 500 count box is in the neighborhood of $30.00. Might be cheaper than those HP's.
