I was wondering if anyone on these forums shoots the .17HMR in competions. I know its very accurate but Im not sure if every one is still using the .22lr.

Which type of competions? Are you speaking about Bullseye, Silhouettes, etc?

I know that some people have tried shooting silhouettes with the 17, but it won't reliably take rams. The club that I shoot silhouettes at has a competion that they call "Extreme Rimfire". What they do is line up a bunch of IHMSA chickens up at 200 yards. The object is to knock all of your chickens down first. They do this from prone, sitting, benched and standing. Best score wins. For this, it is pretty evenly split between the .17's and the .22's.
