30-40 Krag question

Having an odd situation with the reloads for a 30-40 Krag. Using Winchester brass and Winchester magnum primers with the begining load as stated in the Lee book. Shoots fine but the primers are ending up just a fraction proud of the case after firing. Primers are not as snug a fit as some other cases we load. Also very easy to deprime. Using Magnum primers as that is what we had. Thoughts??? Are we doing something wrong?

    excessive headspace would be my guess. If you are not overworking the shoulders by pushing them back more than .002-.003", then I would say it is a generous chamber needing a headspace adjustment.

    Hello a protruding primer can some times result from believe it or not a VERY LOW pressure load. In a revolver with no powder just the primer the primer will back out and lock up the pistol. With a small flash hole and magnum primer and light load the same thing might be happing .
