Much data is available for the Accurate Arms powder. Vihta Vuori also publishes for this caliber.

So, for 110 gr. Remington FMJ, I like a 7.2 gr of AA#7 load. When I use Sierra 85gr. SP's, I get a little hotter, say 7.8 of AA#5, or 8.5 of AA#7. It's also possible to use Speer 100gr plinkers, say at 7.7 of #7.

    tlr,

This is the ballistics data for S & B ammunition:

    PART #SBA76202

CALIBER GR. BULLET TYPE VELOCITY(FPS)25yd/50yd ENERGY(FT.LBS.)25yd/50yd BBL LTH IMPACT (")

    7.62 x 25 Tokarev 85 FMJ 1647 1470 1311 511 407 323 4.75 0 -2

Only you can determine what level your loads are to meet your specification. Here are some published loads. Use the above as guidelines.

I should further note that this is one of the trickiest calibers to reload. The neck length is quite small, offering little area to grasp the bullet, which then have a nasty tendancy to fall into the cases. (.357 Sig is like this, too.) The short neck length notwithstanding, it's still pretty easy to crumple the neck, as high crimp pressures are needed, and the brass is thin.

For quite a while there was no Boxer-primed brass to be had, though now we have the S&B, and Prvi Partisan, and Starline offers new brass. Previously, we had to reform .223 Remington. Data is quite sparse, even today, but a bit of diligence in searching now yields good results.

I pulled some S&B stuff and replaced the FMJ with a Hornady 85gr XTP using the original powder. Chrono's at 1650fps and very accurate!
