Question...tight spot in barrel...
n/a
Member Posts: 168,427 ✭
Here's another question about my Weatherby SVM in .243. Ever since the very first cleaning of this rifle, I noticed a tight spot in the barrel about 1" from the muzzle. Today the rifle was sitting on my dining room table at a perfect angle for the lighting to reveal that there is a ring of small dimples around the barrel about 1" from the muzzle. Does anyone here have any idea what the cause of these could be?...and if they may be related to the tight spot that I have noticed? It's a Krieger button rifled tube. Thanks!

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.
You might want to talk to the gunsmith that chambered/installed that barrel. Your dents sound like they were made by the centering/retaining screws from the lube spyder.

It's a Krieger tube on a Weatherby SVM...factory rifle.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
Got Balistics?
Does the rifle shoot well ?
The barrel should be tightest at the muzzle..but not 'crimped' tight...just tapered, as previously described.
I would get on the phone and call them to see if they have an answer. John's crew is very customer oriented and should be able to give you an answer right away or have someone call you regarding the problem. It sounds to me like a manufacturing problem... talk to the manufacturer.
Best.
