45 Colt & Black Powder loading?

Shadow83Shadow83 Member Posts: 171 ✭✭✭
I am getting into Cowboy shooting and would like to laod some of my .45 Long Colt rounds with black powder as they did originally. Does anyone know where I can find loading data on the amount of BP? I have searched and only find smokeless data.

Check out Hodgdon Powder's web site, pretty sure you'll find some info.

Also Goex has a cowboy action pistol chart.

you can't leave any air space in the loaded cartidges, and must compress the powder slightly.

I started loading BP cartidges last year for my 44's I load about 25 grains of GOEX 3f, a walters wad, a wax cookie, and a 200 grain bullet. They do about 850fps out of my 5.5" barrels.
