Sounds like scope that brand is poor quality from what I have seen.

It sounds like the retical was shot loose, send it back to simmons and they'll fix it for you.

Usually, if the retice is loose, every shot will go in a different direction. The fact that the first two are going in the same place leads me to believe that it might be a barrel heating issue. Try shooting it and letting the barrel cool a bit between each shot.

    Shootlow:
If you have another scope try swapping them out if the same thing happens your looking at a fore end issue. I take it were talking Handy Rifle? If your groups get back in line send the scope back and ask for a repair.

    Question new scope or used?[8D]

Simmons are not made like they use to be!

Not to scare you or anything, but you might want to take it to a gunsmith as well. I had similar issues with a Handi-rifle in 223Rem. I bought the rifle to handload for, but done some shooting with factory ammo and experienced the same issue. When I started to load for it I used my Stoney Point OAL Gauge to find my max OAL and was quite shocked. With a 55gr FMJ bullet touching the rifling it was almost exactly a quarter inch out of the case. The throat of the rifle was extremely over cut. I had to load Berger's 80gr VLDs to even get close to the rifling, I'm talking OAL of the load was over 2.60" to hit the lands! I had no use for the rifle them because of the ridiculous jump I had with light bullets and the twist wasn't fast enough for the heavy and long Bergers.

Like I said, not trying to scare you, just check it out. H&R will replace the barrel, if that is the problem. Most likely, from what you are discribing, it is the scope.

    Good Luck!
