choke tube confusion

slim chrisslim chris Member Posts: 46 ✭✭
I've been back and forth w/ my choke tube configuration: I am a skeet/5 stand enthusiast, and am not 100% certain as to which two chokes would best optimize my 20ga for best results? currently I use a skeetII and IC for skeet shooting, and a IC and full for 5 stand, and seem to feel that works, but never really sure. Any suggestions?

Also, what is the difference in performance between extended and standard chokes?

I shoot skeet/skeet when shooting skeet and skeet/skeet when shooting five stand. I only change chokes if i want to change the way i see the targets break.

difference is one is extended the other is not. some will argue and say that there is a difference but a skeet choke is a skeet choke.

Skeet #2 is my favorite. Not sure about all choke tubes but the extended ones I have are for steel shot. Internal ones can be hammered by steel and become fixed.

so even on 5 stand where some of the birds are a sizably farther distance away from the station you still shoot a skeet choke?

would there any real advantage/benefit from me buying 2 extended skeet chokes for when i shoot skeet/5 stand w/ my 26"?

Skeet & Skeet for Skeet [:o)] ( Imp. Cyl. will work also )
but for Trap or 5 stand I like Imp.Mod. or full ( but thats just me )
The only real atvantage to Extended tubes is ease of change IMHO
that and I think they look good .[:o)]

At my club we only have five stations. high, low house trap bird, ground target and a over the head target. the only bird that is considerably farther away is the trap bird and that is only if i am lazy and don't get right on it. the rest are about the same as a skeet bird.

the extended tubes are easier and faster to change.

if I didn't have skeet chokes and had to buy them i would spend the extra money and get the extended ones. more for the look than anything else really.

have you guys heard of Angle Port? They make a series of extended chokes that can be ported as well if you like, and sell 5 for $100. That is a pretty good deal in comparison w/ other after market chokes. Does anybody have experience w/ this brand of chokes who could let me know if they are satisfied w/ them?
