Do any of you have a favorite for the 22 cals for a one size fits all such as with your 30 cal powders?

Example: I have worked up some really nice loads for my 223 22-250, 204 and 257 Roberts with H335.
I just wondered what if any you might be using to avooid having to buy so many different types.

For my 22cals my favorite powders that I use in all of them depending on pill weight are Varget, Win 748, and Benchmark.

Since you throw in the the .30-30 I would say H4895X. If the 30-30 was gone I would say H4350sc ext.

Always liked IMR4895. I use it in a 243 and will start reloading for a 204. I think it will work nicely there too. Dave

4895. BLC2 should do fine as well, but I've never reloaded the 30-30 so that's a bit of a blind spot for me. 3031 would also be fine, and possibly H335 as well. Accurate 2460 perhaps too. Really any powder in the medium burn rate should suit your needs. I'd stay away from the slow powders for the small cartridges.

I do also offer a second caveat- I like 4895 and I've stuck to it. So the above recommendations are more theoretical than personal-experience based.

4895 if only one powder for almost anything at all.

Thing is, in many cases it is one of the best powders anyway (exceptions for some barrels but generally)

However, it does not, IMO, meter well enough in a progressive press for my taste where ball powders will give a more consistent load.

Many others are similar; Varget, 4064, 3031 but I was able to get some Milsurp 4895 that saved a bunch and I tested it with new IMR4895 and it was the same in impact and group sizes so bought 10 8 pound cans. Wish I could get some of it now for the $72.00 per jug I did 6 years ago now that it is down to the last two jugs.
