What's wrong w old Lyman turret with small ram.

I felt very fortunate to find this fine old Lyman turret press (Lyman ST). This thing weighs a ton but, the ram is only about 5/8 inch diameter. The turret snaps solidly into each position and rotates as smooth as glass.

All of the presses I've used or owned prior to this one had very large diameter rams in comparison. Where would I first notice a problem where the small diameter of the shaft is the culprit?

I have also been using a Lyman ST with a small ram. I haven't had any problems at all. I use it for 45ACP and 38SPL full wadcutter for the S&W model 52 so not loading any major calibers. I use carbide dies so it doesn't take a lot of pressure to load these rounds. Just leave the dies mounted and switch between calibers, sure saves time. I think you will like it, I have mine.

    Thanks---Peabo
