Lyman reloading die problem

chr18426chr18426 Member Posts: 6 ✭✭
I recently made the mistake of not lubing my Lyman .243 Win. resizing/decapping die. The shaft which holds the decapping pin, etc. bent. Can I buy a replacement? If so, where? In the future, how should I lube the die?

You can get them direct from Lyman. -- Put case lube on the brass case you are putting in the die to prevent sticking..........

I would suspect that it is more likely that the decapping rod is screwed a bit on the shallow side and it hit the bottom of the case when resizing, and folded up. Lack of lube might lead to a stuck case but I don't see how it would cause a bent rod. When you get your replacement, make sure the expander ball is well inside the die body, with just enough pin protruding to decap and you'll be fine.

Thanks Temblor and Jonk. I will contact Lyman and take your advice on positioning.
