Reduce the 84.5gr by 10%? I am kinda new to reloading, could you please explain what you mean by watch for pressure signs?

    peppersac,

You're having a hard time finding the Fail Safe bullets because they've been discontinued by the Winchester/Nosler consortium. They were marketed under the name Combined Technologies. Some of the supply houses have various weights and calibers but I haven't seen a complete selection for a while. So unless a store has some put away some place, your father will have to make a new selection.

Your best bet for reloading any cartridge is to get some reloading manuals and read them. Nosler, the actual maker of the CT bullets, has their own reloading manual. There is also a ton of reloading information on the Internet for the .300 Weatherby Mag. You have to decide which bullet you want to use first.

    Best.

Reduce the load by 10% means reduce the powder charge by 10%. If you are loading 100grains of powder, reducing that load by 10% would be 90grains instead of 100.

With the suggested load above of 84.5, 10% of that would be be 76 grains.

Pressure signs are signs that the internal pressures caused by the small explosion of the primer, and the ignition of the powder are starting to overwhelm the case. Signs are many but a few are: Flattened primers, After firing shell extraction can be hard, Stuck bolts, A black dirty ring around the primer. There are alot. If your not sure still. Refer to your reloading manual. I think all of them show pictures of Pressure Signs. Good luck.

PS RL33 is a great powder for large magnums such as the 300 Weatherby with 180 grain bullets.
