Has anyone tried to make the gel which you shot into? You can buy the stuff at cabella's for just shy of an arm and leg and was wounder with all the smart guys here, someone had to have broken the "secret code" to make their own. Thanks, Joe.

It isn't a secret code at all. A simple search for the terms 'ballistic gelatin' will get you the FBI's process of making, mixing, storing and calibrating. There are several other URLs that have recipes also. Knox makes the gelatin but be aware that you need large quantities of this stuff with a big bucket and mixer to get it combined. Add it all up and the price is a little stiff. Maybe that will explain why the cost is so high...
