Walnut media

I'm just using Walnut media for cleaning and was wondering if it wears out. May just be my imagination but it seems to be less effective after year or so. Best to dump it and add a fresh batch?

It does seem to wear down. You can add polish to it once in awhile and it will help but you will be able to tell a big difference as soon as you replace it. I use Walnut to clean and Corn for a high polish. With either Dillon or Frankford Arsenal media polish.

It gets loaded up with dirt and such. It's like taking a bath in muddy water. Plus I think the sharp edges (albeit microscopic) get worn round and ergo it is less effective.

I toss mine about twice a year.

Thanks - I was thinking that the edges of the walnut would, over time, get rounded off and be less effective. Time to toss and replace.
