I'm thinking about picking up a 7600 in 35 whelen , and was wondering if I can form brass by simply running o6 brass through a whelen die ?just necking the brass up from 30 cal to 35 cal .

I had a .30-06 rebored to .35 Whelen back when the .35 was still a wildcat, so I couldn't buy cases ready-made. I usually made cases for it out of military brass just the way you describe. That way there was no caliber headstamp to confuse anybody. I fireformed some with Red Dot topped with cornmeal filler, but finally settled on the direct method of running cases through the die. I formed so many that I have never needed to buy cases, and I still don't own any headstamped ".35 Whelen."

"just necking the brass up from 30 cal to 35 cal ."... yes you can but with brass relativly cheap why bother, and you have the proper headstamp.
