Is this true ? A co-worker told me people were shooting eggs at 500 yards ! He mentioned the .204 I believe,.I'm thinking you need a 1000 dollar scope for this lol. I just put a new scope today with Mildot on my Rem 700 22-250. With 8 bullets I am hitting an inch off center at 200 yards. Not bad off the top of my S10 Chevy, with a pillow for support )

its very possible
Is that a yearly or monthly shoot? Do you know when? I'm 2 hrs from there. I wouldn't mind seeing that and what equipment people are using.
From the Diggles Range (UK):
"Our famous 500 yd Easter Egg Shoot and the 500 yd Fly shoot are great favourites with accuracy shooters far and wide."

There are lots of Egg Shoots in the U.S. mostly east of the Mississippi River. These contests have migrated further west as more folks leave the anti-gun environs of the east. The internet has provided the best avenue of communication about these types of competitions and has helped with the growth of the idea.
The Eastern shoots had been limited to 300 yards to accommodate the Factory class rifles, using the 500 yard eggs as tie-breakers. But with the rapid increase of more highly refined custom rifles, venues are now featuring the longer 500 yard to provide a greater degree of competition for the shooters. A check of the new IBS 600 yard records will give you an idea of just how much shooters have progressed. To add to the difficulty, some of the rules eliminate sighters.
Best.
There IS some gore...so you have been warned!!

I will see if I can find the phone number for you and e-mail or post it here.
We limited it to .22s and 22WMRFs to keep it interesting.
Now they use golf balls.
