    Because the high speed bullet has a lot of turbulence imparted upon it as it slows through the transonic zone. That turbulence creates accuracy issues. Time of flight is not as important as the forces upon the bullet during its flight.

    Bpost is correct . 95% of all target ammo is loaded to SUBSONIC velocity because it has been found that when a bullet goes from sonic to subsonic it disturbs the flight of the bullet.If you look at almost all group size records with 22 LONG RIFLE RIMFIRE ammo.
