.243 reload failure to extract ?

TopkickTopkick Member Posts: 4,452 ✭✭
I have loaded the Hornaday 75 gr bullet in a Rem case and tried to check function in my Browning A-Bolt. Not shot.Just run them thru the bolt cycle.

18 feed fine.
2 won't catch on the extractor.

These are once fired, not my gun.
I full length resized, tumbled, and trimmed to spec.

What's happening?

Shoulder set too far back?
I know I set the die properly according to Lee.

I had the same prob with the same caliber and a set of Lee dies. I had them send me another set of dies and that didnt cure it. I finally cured it with some trial and error. I found that if i set the die deep enough in the press that it actually cut the stroke of the press down that the die wold size the brass right. I called lee back and they said i was wrong but i have been doing this for 5 yrs now and it still works correctly. I am loading for 5 different 243 win rifles. Remeber this fixed my prob it may not fix yours , i would suggest unloading one of the ropunds that would not pass and try this and then try it in your gun before doing to many.
