Blanks, perhaps ?

I purchased a quantity of 222 loaded rounds at the recent gun show.

A couple hundred are formed from mainly Lake City military 5.56 brass.

These cases have a cannular rolled into the case just about where the pressure ring is at the base of the case.

Anyone know about anything about such cases ? My aging memory says that they may have been blanks...comments ?

    I have used many many thousands of rounds of LC 5.56 brass and the only ones I can remember having the Cannelure are the blanks. Possibly certain years had it like they did on LC 308 match brass but I have not seen any.
