Help with cracked necks

ljc2tallljc2tall Member Posts: 87 ✭✭
I have been reloading 270 wsm cartridges with 53 grs. of Accurate XMR 4350 powder, large standard rifle primers, once fired brass and 150 gr sst hornady bullets. I am shooting them out of a Browning BAR. The problem I am having is the necks are splitting on some of the cases. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I loaded for .223 wssm for a while and I expeirienced some issues with necks cracking. I think some of it is do to the neck of the wsm/wssm cases being so thick.

I would think with the necks being so thick that after very few sizings and firings they would work harden pretty fast.

I would suggest annealing the cases to see if that stops the cracking. It did for me

Best of luck and let us know what you figure out.

They need to be annealed, plain and simple.......
Did the once fired brass come from your chamber ?

Some was fired in my rifle, but most was not. I will now do a search on annealing.
