anybody have a pet load for 8o grain bullets. i want to do some long range groundhog shooting. most shots will be between 400 and 600 yards

    My rifles are 6mm Rem, not .244, but the difference involves only rate of rifling twist; for 80-gr. bullets, there is no practical difference.

    Anyway, I get good results with 40 gr. IMR 3031. Haven't chrongraphed it, but average group size is under an inch in two rifles. I get slightly larger groups with 41 gr. IMR 4320, but your rifle might like that load better.

    I am still experimenting, so don't consider these as definitive recommendations, just suggestions. Here is a definitive recommendation, though: be sure to work up from lower charges.

    I shoot a lot of 80 grain Fowlers out of my 6mm's with a 10 twist.
    H-4350 has always been good with it.......
