Just won an GB auction for .223 55 gr. FMJ-BT, M-196 tracer pulled bullets. Would like to reload for a Colt SP-1 AR15. Will be using military brass with either CCI-400 or 450 primers.
What would be a good powder choice? Don't want to load too 'hot', but I do want good performance.
Thanks in advance.

I use 23.8 gr. of AA2015 for a 60 gr. and 24.2 gr. for a 55 gr. It's a little cleaner than the previously two mentioned ball powders. And we like our AR's clean...

The 450's are magnum's.
DCS, can you help me understand why you would use 450's (magnums) vs. 400's in a .223 load (AR useage). Curious.

So it will ignite the ball powder reliably and consistently under all conditions.
