I am new to reloading ,I have purchased several manuels and
I am just curious on personal opinons.
I shoot a ruger 270 using remington 130 g bronze points,
I will be huntig antelope and elk here in Colorado.
I KNOW MOST PEOPLE BELIEVE 270 IS TO SMALL FOR ELK
but believe me it kills them just fine

I've never hunted with the .270, but I've bracketed it with 6mm Rem and .30-06. In 6mm I've used both Hornadys and Nosler Partitions (both 100-gr.) on deer and antelope. Both worked well on small animals, but if I were a trophy hunter limiting myself to heavy-bodied buck deer, I'd go with the Noslers.

Up close (35 yards or less) the.30 caliber 165-gr. Hornady Interlock does massive damage on a deer broadside; the one close shot I took head on into the chest penetrated about 14 inches, barely through the diaphram. Obviously excellent on a deer, maybe not so much on an elk. On another deer shot at the same angle at 220 yards, the Hornady penetrated 26 inches. I never felt the need for .30 Noslers on deer and haven't shot any bigger game.

If you've been having good results on elk with Bronze Points, the Interlocks should do you at least as well. However, if I get to go on an elk hunt, I will probably switch to Noslers, just to guarantee more penetration in case the angle is bad.

I don't think the interlocks will let you down, I also don't like buying bullets buy the 50. I shoot a 25wssm with 117 SST, an interlock with fancy tip, on deer. Even when I hit the front shoulder at an angle always comes out the other side. I know and elk is much bigger and tougher, but I bet a lot of elk sized game has been had with an interlock. The Accubond is probably a better bullet, IMO, than the partition and closer comparison with price as well.

I'm with you; I shot lots of elk here in CO with my old 270 and interlocks. I switched to Barnes TSX and got better penetration, although the elk weren't any more dead. I'd recommend the TSX for longer ranges, but it's a close call at shorter ranges.

Read Jack O'Connor, 130gr Nosler Partition over 59grs of H4831. My dad killed lots of elk with a 270 and Noslers, never lost a one. I've killed alot more with Noslers in a 300Win mag, now because of no clear cuts and more brush, I shoot a 45-70, but I have friends that still shot fast calibers, and they have had good success with Nosler Acubonds, say they shoot as straight as Ballistic tips and kill as good as Particians, and are 6-8 bucks a box cheaper. It should be noted that our elk out here on the west coast have more body mass than your Rocky Mountain critters.
    For what it's worth.

[:)] Hornady also has their Interbond Bullets which should compare quite well with the Nos. partion , except they're about half the price. As far as the .270 Win for Elk, probably works but it's on the bottom of the power scale. I like to carry a rifle that will shoot theough my intended Quarry lengthways . I don't think the .270 will do that on Elk, even with a bonded bullet. It's one hell of a deer cartridge though.

Thanks for the input,I have a few articles by Jack o Conner that is why i was thinking about partitions.I will do more research on interbonds, acubonds, and barnes.270 might be on the bottom of the "POWER" scale, but it works for me. I believe it is more about shot placement than caliber.in my opinion you dont need acannon to kill an elk.better shot placement +smaller caliber = more meat.THANKS again
