38 Auto Brass- Reloading Question

I just acquired 700+ round of 38 Auto Winchester Western Brass. I understand this caliber may not be popular, but the 38 Super is and can these brass be used to load 38 Super. According to my Hornady manual the dimensions are identical (38 Auto & 38 Super). I want to sell these on GB, but want to make sure they are marketable. Thanks for the expert advice in advance.

You are asking for BIG trouble the early colt semi auto's were in 38 ACP and later after a design change the new pistol was called a 38 super . If you load 38 super loads and then these because of the markings on the shell say 38 ACP are loaded in a 38 ACP pistol you could have a KABOOM and blow up a gun and hurt or kill the shooter. Better to sell the cases alone . I would NEVER sell or BUY reloads to any one period. [:(!][V][:(][xx(]

I only want to sell the fired brass. My question is could someone use the 38 Auto brass to load some more current 38 Super loads for their own use.

I think I would sell it as 38auto /38ACP brass and let the buyer do what he wanted to with the brass . 38 super is easy to find and buy = low price. 38 AUTO is hard to find and buy = high price. YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY

Heres what the Lyman 48th edition reloading manual has to say about this...38 super automatic: comments, Use this data in pistols specifically marked 38Super by the manufacturer. This data would be extremely dangerous if used in a pistol marked 38AUTOMATIC. The 38 AUTOMATIC uses the same size case but loaded to much lower chamber pressures. Sounds to me that they could be used for 38 Super....after all that being said perry shooter has it right, let the buyer decide.

Pure speculation here, mind you, but...

Just because the EXTERNAL case dimensions are identical does not mean that the internal configuration - especially in the web and head - are the same. The 38 AUTO case may not be as strong if it was designed for lower pressures.

If you sell it, just list it as what it is and don't make any suggestions about potential use. No sense leaving yourself open for any liability later.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.
