Different brand dies/presses??????

Can different brand dies be used in another brand of press? I understand Lee is 7/8 X 14 thread, if RCBS is the same what would be wrong with making a switch?

yes, dies are interchangeable from press to press(as long as the threads are the same). I have an RCBS press and use RCBS, Hornady and now have my 1st Redding die set. You will most likely have to adjust the locking ring.

7/8x14 is the same, no matter what the press manufacturer is. Most everything is the 7/8 x 14 thread pattern.

The only thing I would add here is that when you use an rcbs set of dies use the rcbs shell holder with those dies, etc. I read somewhere that not all shell holders are exactly the same and they have been made to be compatiable with each manufacturer's die set. I can't say that this is absolutely the truth, but it was a reloader's book that I read it in.

I can't see how this would apply but who knows; either the die is screwed in to touch the shellholder or it isn't. If anyone has a reason or confirmation of this let me know; I don't do it and haven't had problems but........ [;)]

I have found variances in different brands of shellholders. I keep them specific to the die set. If the set comes with a shellholder, I use that shellholder,..if not, then I use the RCBS set.

Everything I use to reload is RCBS, but now needing 2 new sets of dies I am going with Lee. They all fit the same, but Lee has kept their prices more competitive.
