Can someone tell me how to check the size of threads on both the male and female bore cleaning brush for 22 cal ammo before I buy them?

I believe they will be 8-32. That covers most everything until you go up to shotgun, or down to 17 caliber.

Almost all rods and brushes for them in .17 and .20 cal. use 5-40 threads. All .22 and larger rods and brushes use 8-32 threads. A thread pitch gauge will confirm this. Bob

Thread sizes are pretty well standardized these days but such was not the case a few years back. If you have an old cleaning rod you may have trouble finding the correct brushes these days. Today most caliber brushes have 8-32 threads. The main exceptions are .50 caliber which is 10-32 and .17 caliber which is 5-40.
