I am a newbie to reloading so please do not laugh. I am going to reload for a 45 auto and a 380 auto. I plan on using Winchester primers. Large pistol for the 45 Auto? Small pistol for the 380 Auto? mttrapper[:)]

Thanks
I have a new LEE turret press, and i insert a new primer on the up stroke, after punching out the old primer. The manuals i read say not to touch the primers. My question is, How do I put the primer into the primer insertion piece without using my fingers? Thanks; Mike
If I try a different brand, should I load a few and chrono them for comparison?
as to which is more powerful in comparison
Welcome to the Gunbroker Forums!
If you have a search engine that you like to use, type in the terms 'rifle and pistol primers for sale' and you should get a list of merchants that have primers ready for sale.
The area I live in doesn't have a shortage right now as the shelves are full and the merchants have suppliers with stock.
The shortage originally stemmed from the lack of facilities to produce them in the quantities that the Feds needed them for the wars that we're fighting and for training. This applies to 5.56 and 7.62 NATO components also. They have closed all of the facilities except for a couple and they have a tough time keeping up with just the military needs. ATK operates Lake City and they own Federal Ammunition so the two get tied together and the supply goes to the Feds first. That's a really abbreviated mention and there is more but I don't type that fast...
ATK also owns Speer, Federal, RCBS and Weaver.
Best.
Hey guys, new to the forum. But i check in and read here and there. I have only been into reloading for about 2 full years now. On and off since i was 10, dad was a reloader/dealer so i was always into it somewhat. I was going to start a new topic but i saw this and thought it fit the subject. For you guys that have been reloading for a long time, has there ever been a "crisis" where components were as scarce as they are now?
NO! I have never seen prices zoom to the moon like they are either.

That is 10 cents each for primers and I can remember loading 223; bullet, powder and primer for less than 10cents each in the 90's

Got Winchest Small Pistol today, paid $28 for 1K at the local shop.
My gun guy is dinging folks $70.00 for a brick of 1,000.
And, yes, I bought a brick.
Because nobody has any within a 100-mile radius.
Bummer.
Thats BS. I dont care if it was the last box left they shouldnt get to gouge prices like that.
I bet you didn't like paying $4.00 a gallon for gas last summer but
that was the price. Take it or leave it.
