I load 180gr. lead TC bullet on top of 4.5gr of Accurate #2 with CCI 500 sm pistol primers. I shoot steel with this round qite often.
Check out the Hodgdon and Accurate Arms websites.

for a good sweet shooting target load, we have always used 6 grains of Unique with a 180 gr lead (most guys now believe Unique to be too dirty/smokey, but it's so universal in reloading, who minds a bit of cleaning after a great day spent shooting [8D]

Try using Titegroup. Works well, exceptionally clean and meters very well! I load for a 180 grn. service practice load 4.6 grains of titegroup with a Federal small primer. And for a reduced load for my little Kahr PM40, 165 fmj over 3.7 grns of Tite Group and Federal Primer. This makes the little gun enjoyable to shoot all day long with no sore hands at the end of the day!!
