PMC factory .223 ammo

Has anyone out there had any trouble with PMC factory ammunition? I was shooting some through a Rock River AR last night and out of 40 rounds I had three cartridges that did not discharge. I questioned the primer hits, but I tried firing them again in a 700 Remington and the cartridges still did not discharge which is what leads me to beleive its an ammunition issue not the firearm.

I don't "buy" any ammo, but with 2 solid firing pin strikes from 2 separate rifles, I would tend to agree it's the ammo.

I have a case of it and it goes BANG with no problems. I got the case about 10 years ago.

Could be a bad lot of primers, I had it happen once with new factory 9mm's. PMC is usually high-quality stuff, and they are allowed to import into European countries without being subject to the lot-to-lot testing at European proof houses that is required of some other makers.

I would contact the PMC distributor, however, as they will certainly want to know about it.

I really like the PMC stuff never had any problems with it. I still have about 500 new rounds and I try to buy it when ever the price is around $8.00-$9.00 a box. I hope it isn't a primer problem as I bought a couple of thousand recently.

Took those three rounds apart over the weekend and checked them out.
I was suprized at the variation in powder charge; 1st: 26gr, 2nd: 25.2gr, & 3rd: 25.2gr. Upon inspection of the cases, absolutely no sign of primer discharge. Definitely apears to be dud primers.

Sold PMC ammo in my gun shop for 14 years, both rf and cf; with no problems at all. I still have some .41 Mag factory stuff from about 1993 that chrono'ed at 1447 fps out of a 3 screw Ruger 6 1/2". When I called the fctory, they wanted me to give them the lot # and said the load was way too hot[:0]; which I knew was BS since that was about what the factory loads were running when the gun was first developed according to the KEN WATERS book on reloading, plus what was shown in a 1969 Remington catalog.
I also have about a K of .223 ammo loaded with the 55 gr fmjbt and over 5 K .22 Target 40 gr ammo; both made in the 1990's.
Oh, Smith 52, you took me from Marksman class to Expert in three matches[:(] right after I started shooting Bullseye on the INNG Pistol Team back in 1980[:0]. I did come out with quite a # of NRA points in those three matches though bcause my .22 scores were in the high Expert class when I first started and the S&W 52 jumped my scores up over 100 points the first time I fired one, which was in an NRA Regional match. I just couldn't get the .45 down very good.

Last week I was shooting my Rock River AR with some different ammuniton and had one round out of fifty FTF, a friend was with me and we put it through his Stag AR and the round fired. This got me to investigate a little further. I'll make a long story short, I installed a new standard hammer spring and have had no more rounds fail to fire. The PMC's shoot good and always go bang, now. Thanks to everyone for their input.
