i ran out of small primers. i do have small magnum primers anyone have suggestions about how much powder to cut back? my current load is 5.8 grain I.P.P. (industrial pistol powder) and 180 grains copper jacketed bullet. thanks for your help.

    I was just reading my August 2009 issue of Shooting Times and there is an article by Lane Pearce that I believe can help answer that. The article is titled "The Most Important Handloading Operation". In the article he states on pages 13 and 14:
    "If you substitute the same type of a different brand or want to compare how a Magnum primer affects your handload's ballistic performance, reduce the recommended powder charge by five percent before loading a few test rounds." Lane also states to use a chronograph to compare the velocities between the previous handloads and the new alter receipe. Hope this helps you out, Lane's article is pretty good, it answers alot of the primer question I've seen people asking here on the forum.
