20 GA. 3/4 ounce - Unique Powder

Harty52Harty52 Member Posts: 3 ✭✭
I'm trying to find information on loading 20Ga. 3/4 ounce shot using Unique gun powder with CB-1078 wads for Win. AA or Remington hulls. I'm being told 14.7 grains but can't find any data to support this. Trying to achieve 1200 fps.

    Primer-Winchester 209
    Hull-Winchester AA
    Wad- CB1078-20
    Unique powder-17 Grains
    FPS-1290

This information comes directly from the Alliant website.

Thats the only load that i can find for that wad and powder. Alliant's website is pretty up to date and theres nothing in my Lyman(its kinda old).

Looks like it might be a little fast for you, so i would probably cut it back a grain to 16 for around 1200fps. You might have to loose a little wad pressure. That load works real well in the AA compressiom formed old style hull, not the new AA hi strength.

    Primer-Winchester 209
    Hull-Winchester AA
    Wad- CB1078-20 or RXP 20
    Unique powder-16 Grains = FPS-1200 For 7/8oz. load
This information comes directly from the Alliant website.
20gabob This would make it the exact same recipe I use for my regular 7/8 oz. loads. If I drop down to 3/4 oz. shot I think I might still be over 1200fps. I sent an email to Alliant hoping to here from them.

Unique is realy too slow to be using in your stated application.
There are powders that are far better suited to the task.
