Cast bullet lube

Just getting back into casting pistol bullets, what is a good lube that doesn't get sticky like 50 50 beeswax and alox?

    Canuba

Any that aren't sticky will require a heater.

Google 'felix lube'. Not sticky and soft enough (just) to flow through a sizer. You gotta make it yourself though.

Bullet lube does two jobs # 1 keeps the surface of the bore from smearing the lead and thus causing lead deposits to form on the bore . But more important IMHO it seals the bore so there is no Gas Cutting . I think a softer lube does a better job of both of these functions. Just like produce in the store that does not taste as good as local grown because the variety is made for looks and long storage. The commercial caster uses HARD lube because it is easier and looks good but it does not work as well . it is hard to beat 50/50 mix lube

To add one more thought, I'd agree with Perry shooter. For pistol bullets a 50/50 lube is just fine. I don't even mess with anything else unless I'm going to rifle.

You might also consider Lee Liquid Alox. It's a tumble lube. It is fine for handguns except the largest magnums. It's all I use in my 38 special, 32 auto, and 45 acp... though I do prefer the 50/50 for 9mm as it is a little more high pressure round and I find the sealing effects are better with 50/50.

Whatever lube you use, bullet size is paramount even more than anything. 1/1000 OVER bore diameter is a good place to start.

There is a fellow over at www.castboolits.gunloads.com that sells some lube that avid casters swear by.

I second the 50-50 mix as still king of the hill for pistol bullet lubes.

It depends a bit on whether you are lubing in your sizer or not.

I don't, so I won't address lubes made for that method. You can dip bullets into melted Johnson's Paste Wax, which contains carnauba wax. You can also tumble-lube in Lee Liquid Alox. Either way is more than satisfactory for all but the hairiest handgun loads. I use both, but I probably LLA tumble more handgun bullets and JPW dip more rifle bullets.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.
