ACCURATE LOAD FOR 6.5 JAP?

ENBLOCENBLOC Member Posts: 327 ✭✭
I tried 129 gr. Hornady over 34 gr. IMR 3031, didn't hit the target at 100 yds, NEXT 140 gr. Speer over 32 gr. IMR 3031, in the black, Finally 160 gr. rd. nose Hornady over 27 gr. IMR 3031. Still in Black just printed higher. Looks like 140 gr. is where I should be looking. What is best powder to use? What amount? Does Jap like slower powders like the Swede? I have Arisaka Rifle with the 31" bbl.

You might wish to slug the bore of your Arisaka before working up loads. Typical store-bought 6.5 bullets go about .264". The bores on many Arisakas slug way more. You may need to obtain larger-diameter bullets, e.g. cast.
