45 colt - H&R rifle

joesjoes Member Posts: 484 ✭✭✭
I was looking at a 45 colt in an H&R single shot rifle. Has anyone loaded for this rifle in this caliber? How solid is the action? Does anyone have suggested loads to suit this action. Thank you, Joe.

I have one in 500 S&W mag. The action is strong enough for that.

My 1at question to H and R, or on an H and R forum, would be 'are they rated for 'Ruger only loads' found in some manuals.

These loads are right up there with some .44 magnum loads .

If not,the old 'standby' load is 8 grains Unique under a 255 grain cast bullet.INexpensive shooting compared to jacketet, and will '* er done.'
