Hercules Reloader #7

Anyone had experience with this powder?
I have an unopenned 1# can that I think dates back to the '60's or earlier. Can't find any loading data. Label says it's a rifle powder so I'm guessing that if it hasn't spoiled it should be good for something between my Hornet and '06.

I think I still have a few pounds left when it was indeed made by Hercules. Now the company is named Alliant but the powder is still Reloder 7. Here is the list of cartridges and loads from the Alliant website:

I load reloader #7 in my Mauser action 45-70, works great.

It is a small-case powder, primarily. It was and is a favorite of benchrest shooters in the .222, works great in the Fireball and with light bullets in 223. It also works great in big straight-wall cases like 375 Winchester and 45-70. Some people us it in the 30-30, but it is just a wee bit fast for that, IMO, except with cast bullets.

Yep, I use it in my .222

Ditto on Reloader 7 in the .222. Use it in my 20 VT too, works great.

In my .221 Fireball rifle, 18.6 gr. of RL7 behind a 50 gr. Hornady bullet (either the regular spire or the SPSX) is the most accurate load. Velocity is just under 3000 fps.
