.300 H&H loads

Any who wishes to share their favorite loads for their .300 H&H post them please.

I am going to order some bullets(not sure what yet, but leaning towards 180 gr. Nosler Partitions or Accubonds) and these are the powders I have available: R-22, R-7, Benchmark, W760, and IMR 3031. Anything with these powders would be much appreciated. I am guessing the W760 and R-22 should both work very well. Thanks,

Jon

    Jon0322,

I like Re-19 better but Re-22 will certainly work. W760 is a tad fast and only fills the case to about 90% full but it will work. It fouls quite a bit because of the formulation but with attention to cleaning it might work in your rifle.

All the other powders listed are too fast.

    Best.

I have a 721 Remington and a couple of pre-64 Winchester 70's, one of which has been cut to a 21" barrel. They each have a different favorite load:

    721 Rem.: 165 Nosler balistic tip, 70 gr./IMR4350. 3,220 fps & 5-shot groups average 1.36".

    21" Win. 70: 180 sierra spitzer, 68 gr./IMR4350. 2920 fps & 5-shot groups average 1.63".

    26" Win. 70: 200 Sierra BT, 67.5/IMR4831. 2986 fps & 5-shot groups average 1.06".

These are hot loads--standard cautions apply. They also generate considerable recoil! Hope this helps. Gotta love the old .300!
