There is a very good article about Nosler's bullets including the accubond in the Feb 2010 American Rifleman, pg 62!
I use the accubonds in several rifles, for deer sized game, especially in HV type rifles like the 264 win mags, 300 mags, etc!
I used this bullet when Nosler only made it for a short time few years ago and was nice of them to bring it back! My guns seem to group it to the same point of Impact (POI) as the Partitions! I like the solid especially when a close range shot is taken with a HV rifle at close range, like inside 100 yards, where I've has the ballistic tip style bullets go to pieces on the exterior of the animal and act like small pieces of scrapnel entering the animal! They (accubonds) are not designed for bench rest type paper punching, they are designed as a hunting bullet! If you want to punch paper your can buy better for such at a less costly price!

I've got some fresh info. In dec I shot a six point buck from 30 ft away. I was above him in a tree stand. My load was a Accubond 130 gr bullet pushed by 54.0 gr of IMR4350 at 3000 ft per sec. I hit him square in the backbone just below the shoulders, he was going straight away from me. That bullet disintegrated peppering the lungs but no other damage. The buck died almost instantly. I guess you cant push them that fast and expect any thing to hold together at close range. But I did get the buck.

Like a previous post, there are cheaper bullets with more accuracy potential on the market. I'm surprised that the Accubond came apart so easily even on a spine shot. They are really meant to hold up better than BT's and are "bonded" to prevent blowup.

Wow that sounds almost as bad as the ballistic Tip! I would expect something called the accubond to hold together a lot better ona deer sized animal.. Most of my rifles I use for deer are way beyond the 3000 fps at muzzle. Maybe I should just save my money [:D]quote:Originally posted by Pistollero1050

Even though the accubond seemed to blow up COMPLETELY it did contact solid bone at close range!
If I wanted to shoot holes in railroad irons I would go to FMJ's and or solids!

Nosler is now making solids for HV at close range for max pentration with minimum shredding of the bullet!

The NRA article is a good read about the design of their bullets!

I was suprised that it came apart. It blew a hole in the skin 3"long and 1 1/2" wide. I like to recover my bullets for my collection. I would include a pic but they say its to big of a file.

If you want to collect bullets you will have to quit using the partitions, accuabonds, solids, because they usually pass through, and go to a gun similar to a LV 44 mag rifle with a 250 gr or so soft point bullet or a black powder gun 50 cal with about 35 grs of black powder and a 430 gr soft lead maxi-ball! (vel's about 1100 fps) or a bean flip![:)]

I collect the bullets also if I happen to see such, I have several black powder bullets and some 243 and 35 rem I've recovered over the years! I have a recovered 300gr XTP/Mag 45 cal from a 50 cal black powder in my pocket from a big un this last season! I'ts a perfect mushroom, 100 yard angle shot and vel was approx 1900fps!
I have not recovered (collected) any partitions or accurabonds!

I hear ya ! I love collecting the bullets or should i say fragments! My personal best was a 45 acp i pulled out of a big doe that was struck by a car. I had to put it down in the middle of my neighborhood on Christmas night with a flashlight! Cant believe i wasnt arrested.. But it actually jumped up and ran 20 yards and looked at me with its innards hanging out! Very strong animals for sure. Anyway I shot it in the shoulder twice and knocked it down. I recovered the 2 federal hydroshocks in the oppisite shoulder and they were completely intact looking just like the picture in the advertisement on the box. I have to say I was very impressed[;)]

    Pistollero1050,

This is a 'Sticky' located at the top of the Ask the Experts forum titled "Posting Photographs".

    http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=259294

All you need to do is go a Hosting website and download your pictures from your hard drive (My Pictures) onto their server. They generate a URL which you copy and post here using the little yellow square button above the message field. You can size the photograph while you download it onto the Hosting server. Generally something along the lines of 400x600 or thereabouts will work for the forums.

    Best.

    Pistollero1050,

There is nothing to getting photographs to appear in a post these days. It just took me 15 seconds with no trauma whatsoever:

    weightsorted284brassfac.jpg

    http://www.imageshack.us/

    - On the opening page where it says 'upload' select 'image' then 'Browse'. This will take you right into 'My Pictures' on your computer. Simply click on the photograph you want to post and it will be placed in the blank for you.

Right below that it says 'Upload options and Resizing. Click this and then select 640x480 (for mesasage boards).

Then click the blue 'Upload Now' button. It couldn't be any easier.

If you want to re-use the image, you have to register and create an account which is free but you get to have an accessible file of pictures for posting.

    Best.

Somehow or other I thought I had posted to this thread.

Anyhow, my opinion of the Accubond is very good. It's as accurate, for me anyways, as the BT's. Good enough for most of the target work I do. They are more accurate than the partitions.

Terminal ballistics are more like the partition though. Which has a good reputation.
