30 Cal. frangible bullets

M-160s is the military designation.

Anybody loaded and shot these light (108 gr.) bullets ? I picked up a few, thought they might work for off-hand practice..cheap trigger time.

I tried some with H4895, and got less than satisfactory results!! I might hit the target and I might not. It was a modest charge of 40-42grs. I didn't want to over do the "frangible" bullet. I gave up after about 30 rounds!! Maybe there is someone who has had better luck than me that can help you.

I've used some with the stated military 30/06 loading with good results.Fairly accurate at 50 yards out of a worn 03 barrel. Cartridges of the World gives the loading in the US military reference section. I would feel quite safe using them on light, pistol cartridge swingers. You'll need to paint the swinger white since the bullet only makes a very light gray smudge on impact.

Thank you for the replies, gentlemen. I didn't think about the C.O.W. book. I shall refer to it posthaste.
