I've shot 5grains of Bullseye in all my 45acps for for more than 30 years, it a standard load. For my carry loads I load 5.5 grains of Bullseye and a 200gr. Hornaday XTP.
    Hope this helps.

I like 5.3 of 231 for the 230 fmj and 5.8 gr of 231 for the 200 gr SWC.

Many good powders and loads. Since I reload a lot of shotgun also, I find that "clays" fills the bill for 28ga-12ga + 380ACP-45ACP. Being a "flake" powder it will not meter as close as some others, but never found that to be an big issue.

200 SWC is normal 3.8-4.2 grains of Clays for accuracy (most Bullseye guys use 3.8). Still playing with a good 230 gr. FMJ load.

Better question is what powder you have and then work within that structure.

    Best of luck

I load quite a few 250 grain Hornady XTP hollowpoints with .7CC dipper of green dot. I can't remember but I think it is like 6.4 grains, would have to get out to the shop to look at the book. My pistol likes the green dot over red dot and herco. Funny thing, all three have a different grain weight for the 250 grain bullet, but all three throw within .1grain with the .7cc dipper.

5.2 of HP-38 with a 230 FMJ has cycled well in my full size 1911.
Enemies of armed self-defense focus on the gun. They ignore the person protected with that gun.

All of the above powders I use and are effective. I perfer Bullseye because it shoots so clean. I load for a 230gr xtp bullet is bullseye 4.6 to 840fps. This load applys to lead also for a fps of 775

I forgot what I use will have go look tonight and get back with you later on that. I would start with the accuracy load listed in the reloading manual and go from there. I shoot 230 ball, the 230 hollow point do not feed in my gun, too many jams. Good luck and keep reloading. I will try to get back later with that load info.

I use Titegroup only anymore for 45acp loads. Burns cleaner than 231 or AA5/AA7. Couple of my favorite loads, 10shot strings on a Chrony:

    Berry's 200gr SWC (light target)
    4.9gr Titegroup - str1 avg 781fps / str2 avg 780fps

    Lasercast 200gr LSWC (mid load)
    4.9gr Titegroup - str1 avg 883fps / str2 avg 882fps

Have to agree with the 5.8gr of 231 with 200gr swc. Accidently loaded 6.3gr of 231 with the 200 swc. Glock 21 loved it, but i dont think I'd try it in anything else. (Wont try it in my Glock again either).
