7mm ?

was at an auction a week ago and bought a box of lead cast bullets marked .286 and 150 gr. They were already had 5 or 6 rings that were "greased". Are these safe to use in 7mm? I've never used cast before.

    Safe?
Yes, .002" larger than groove diameter is about right.

    Loads?
You cannot load a naked lead bullet like you can jacketed.
Look in a Lyman manual for specific cast bullet loads.
I see no need to load a cast bullet over 1600 fps, and 1200 fps is usually easier to get to shoot well. Not like I am hunting bear with them.

THANK YOU, I'll find a book if I decide to load lead.

Do they have a gas check- a little copper disc- at the base?

What powder do you have on the shelf?

What 7mm do you have? Include pistol or shotgun powders in your list.

With that info we can suggest some options.
