    I have used recurves in the past. My practice time became limited so I havent't hunted with one for several years. That is what this reply is about: it takes practice, practice, practice. I still have a 45# bear recurve I shoot occasionally. Many years ago I hunted with a 70#, just draw and shoot, no holding at anchor while the deer decided to give you a shot, but man did it shoot hard.

    Given the time to practice I would go back to a recurve or long bow.
