much has been credited to multi blade and expandable blade design.
but is there any merit to a large two blade that cuts with little effort
and does so without alarming the animal. they dont know they are
cut?

Look up Howard Hill on youtube. He was an awesome archer (possibly the best ever?)He liked the (2 fixed blade) design. They fly true and have great cutting power. Zwickey used to make a great 2 blade head. They remind me of the Indians flint knapped heads. YMMV- Don
I think this link has what you are referring to. If I ever used a two blade i would go this route.

That 2 blade Zwickey is exactly what I was referring to. Howard Hill used a design almost exactly the same and killed an elephant with it. He shot the 1200 pound elephant right through the lungs. Talk about penetration. These broadheads are often overlooked by many archers due to all the latest "modern broadheads" available, but these "old school" broadheads are just as effective. Don
and flight or pass thru with little notice of penetration.
