Eastern buck vs Midwest buck (skull size)

I got the Illinois buck on a panel and compared it to a equal Virginia buck of the same age and both 8 pointers. The picture does not show just how much bigger the Midwest bucks skeletal structure is, but you can see a difference. The Virginia bucks rack is bigger as far as width and height, but the Midwest buck has better mass. Odd thing is, the Illinois buck actually had a layer of fat on his skull. I have never seen this before and it took quite a bit of work to get it off. You all must get some killer winter temps out there. As far as weight goes the Midwest buck was 210 lbs and the Virginia buck weighed 135.

Illinois corn fed bruisers are well represented in the B&C honor rolls. genetics determines the shape, nutrition fills it out. in fact, Illinois had more B&C bucks on the list than any other state. this was around 2000 the end of my bowhunting time. i found ducks!!!
I did not disagree with you just trying to open your picture.
click on disagree again and it will erase it for you.........
I did not know that. Thank you.
