I read on a different forum and got me thinkin, what would cause those cat whisker string silencers to knot up after a few shots?

I used those rubber type on my last bow for several years and never had the knot up. I have even thought about going back to them. I currently use the Limb Saver Leaches but I shoot them off in a matter of shots! I was even thinking about posting a question as to what eveyone uses for silencers. Not to give you Ma***ws guys more ammo (since you really need it![:D]) but my Hoyt is pretty load without them. Has anyone tried the newer leaches that are supposed to last longer? Do they work as well? If not, I will probably go back to the rubber type.

the leeches that came with my hoyt when i bought it 2 years ago are still on it. Thousands of shots through it and no problemo.

Did you get the "cat whiskers" wet before the knoted up on you? Also maybe heat, If they get hot enough they get sticky and knot up.

slash, maybe try the STS. I have mentioned it before and will probably get one myself, but on this other site it was mentioned that the cam could be out of timing and cause this. I wondered if this is true cause mine do knot up.

edit- I'm a dork, I said cams as in plural. duh! Solocam.

i'm not really a fan of string silencers. i've never liked them on my bow and i don't use them. i think the limb savers would be my choice if i had to use any type of silencer.

What do you mean "STS?" Got a link? Plus, according to the proshop when I bought my bow, with the Cam and a half system, timing shouldn't be an issue. I know that the last set of leaches I put on were gone in less than 10 shots and I never bothered to put new ones on.

I have been shooting the old leaches on my Hoyt with good results. The first one tore in about 100 shots the other lasted well over 1000. Just put in the new ones and have 200 or so on them now. The secret is to cross serve them. One wrap at an angle across them.
After these are gone I will switch to the new style.
Also being I am kind of a tech-no-geek, I also put the limbsavers on the limbs, and 4 on the riser, the cable guard mounted ones with a teflon guard slide. These all made it shoot like it cost much more than it did... Remember this is a FREE BOW!

Wow my Mathews doesn't have any string silencers or limb savers and there is no vibration and very very little noise sounds to me like you're endorsing the wrong brand.

Not that I have any money right now, ya know 3 kids and all, but what is an outback goin for used, loaded and unloaded??

I have not shot one but I really do like the looks and what I hear about the switchback.

I'm not looking to sell quite yet I was going to wait until december or early January, Mathews offers their new products in early Jan. I was looking at selling for about $600 it is a 70#, 29" draw, 80% let off, right handed bow with a extreme sniper sight with the blue flame light, 3X scope lens, and .019 pins, a MPSI drop away rest, and a doinker stabilizer. Bang that might be just the ticket for a christmas present to yourself.
