sight pins?

hsracer201hsracer201 Member Posts: 966 ✭✭✭✭
at what distances do ya'll put your pins? my sight only has 3 pins so i set them at 10/20/30. however, i was thinking about maybe moving them to 20/30/40. but i dont' like to take 40 yard shots. that a bit too far for me. any input? change em? leave em the same?

I say use a 25 and a 35 yard pin. Or do like I do, and get a pendulum.

i tried the pendulum for a season. it was pertty good. it was a keller. i killed a bunch of deer with it, but one day i was hunting on a really steep hillside and a buck walked above me and i missed him because the pendulum wouldn't work uphill. other than that i loved it.

i can't add anymore pins. not easily anyway. i have the kind that have about 2 feet of fiberoptic cable wrapped around.

i kinda like the idea of 25 and 35 yards. i might try that and see how far off i am at 10 yards.

I shoot one pin. I have two on the bow but have always only used one.

I agree, 20 yard pin works great from 0 to at least 20. When I hunt I have a 20,30,and 40. When i'm at the club shooting I put on another pin because we have 2 targets that some of us shoot at from distances 55-80.

that just seems to be my average shot distance. i HATE estimating and like to be as accurate as possible. i used to have archers choice sights that had a 10/20/30/40/50. i can shoot that far, i just would rather not.

From 0-20 there shouldn't be over an inch difference, I know there's not on my bow.

I agree with Buckey. I'd think your first pin at 10 would impact the same as your 20 yard pin? I reckon that does depend on how fast/flat your bow shoots?
My first pin is good to 30 yards, my second pin to 55, the third pin probably 75-80 yards, and the last two pins I moved to the bottom of the sight bracket as I don't need them. Hell, I don't use the third one either.
