Draw-Loc??? Young Archer Wannabee

My stepson {12yrold} has seen a show on t.v. about this item and really wants to get one. We looked up thier site and you can buy just the unit that fits onto your bow. I guess I could rig it up onto my old Hoyt Excel and let him try that!?! Any of you ever used one or know anyone that uses one???? I'd hate for him to get all excited about this thing and it be a piece of crap or not work as shown! I have a youth bow that is set at 45lbs and it takes everything he's got to get it back so he's stuck using the" Little Chief Kiddy Compound" at the moment. Any other Ideas or suggestions for the kid????.....Besides waiting till he's older or lift weights and take steroids[:D]

DR, I was a scrawny kid when I started shooting, and had problems with the minimum weight requirement of 40lbs. My advice is: Make him shoot the bow. No matter how bad his * contortions get, remember: he's only getting stronger. It will only get easier. Plus, getting so cold you can't pull your bow back builds character.

DR, i'm still a scrawny kid. i agree with ben, just make him strengthen himself the old fashion way. turn that bow down as low as it will go and have him practice every day. i'd say by next season he will be shooting 45lbs just fine. i've seen the draw-loc at archery shows, and it looks ok, but its not something i would trust.

I'm 13, and my bow is set at about 48 pounds. I pull the bow string back and hold it for 5 seconds. I do this about 30-50 times per day to build up muscle. It's worked so far.
