What's your opinions: Fast as lightning, or locomotive punch?

I am somewhere in the middle. I shoot a fairly light arrow, but nowhere near minimum. Seems to work.

I like the big punch myself, lighter set ups are ok for 3-D shooting but i've never liked it for hunting.

Hit em in the right spot and it just dosent matter. heavy, light hit vital dead deer. I like to be able to shoot ot to 45 tops and have killed em that far with light arrow fast bow pass thru at 44 yards.I dont think it makes that much differance if ya hit em on the button. [;)] ben let those carbons rip and watch the penetration ya get. remember tis the larger the object the more resistance.

Years ago we tried to do a study on kinetic energy and it didn't seem to make a difference. I used to shoot borderline short light weights for speed and flat shooting. Now I'm shooting heavier longer arrows and they seem to be more forgiving and quieter than my short and fast arrows. Here's another question for you, do you like feathers or fletching?

Yea ithink he meant vanes or feathers as both are fletching[:0]
I missed that one[:I] what do ya mean by forgiving... My vanes are now 2 inches long by 1inch high and the arrows are touching.. My brother still uses feathers I personally dont see the advantage except alerting the deer you can definatly hear em comming as opposed to vanes. plus in bad weather? well ya know[:)]

you should know what i mean. If you got a slow bow, ill take the fast arrows. If you have a fast bow, gimmy the big heavy ones that pack punch.

Actaully if you want the most kinetic energy, you will want that the other way around.

It should be noted that a properly placed arrow - impacting with 50 ft-lbs of KE would easily generate a clean pass-thru on large game like Whitetail Deer or Elk (as in our experiment with the Patriot above). So with respect to kinetic energy and big-game hunting, there really is no practical difference between the 300 grain arrow impacting with 50 ft-lbs of KE and a 600 grain arrow impacting with 54 ft-lbs. Either would make a clean harvest on big game. So in most cases, the effective difference would really be how far the arrow sticks in the dirt after passing through the animal. I guess were killing dirt for no reason[:D]

Coming from a farm background I must point out that I think you meant to say "soil". "Dirt" is "soil" that has been misplaced. "Dirt" is generally found in ones house, on clothes, cars...ect... [:D]

It should also be noted that shooting a Mathews enhances the chances of having a properly placed arrow.[;)]
