I'm going to get back into archery.

After a couple of years off, due to eye problems, I want to start shooting again. The problem is that I can no longer shoot with my right eye. Can I simply turn my head and shoot right handed with my left eye? Also, my bow has been at rest for about two years, It's an older PSE twin cam with the split limbs; anything I should worry about?

I don't think that shooting right handed & left eyed is recommended, especially with a peep. You might be able to pull it off with a hind sight. Your bow should be fine. You might want to re-wax the string. Look it over real good to make sure it hasn't been damaged while it was stored. Likely, your string did stretch, so you will want to double check it to make sure it's still sighted in.

I've never used a peep sight. I do have a kisser button on the string. I always lined my sting up with the riser to make use everything was inline. Guess I'll just have to find another way to do that, huh?

I'm shooting the same arrow/head set up; XX78 2512 (2413?) with 145/150gr heads. Is this set-up outdated? I notice carbon arrrows are a lot more abundant now.

I'm one of the few hunters that doesn't use carbon...although I might be changing here very quickly. I'd just shoot the arrows that I had, switch later when you get "the hang" of things.

You could always start shooting left handed. You would probably have more luck shooting left handed then you would moving your string over to your left eye. Not that you couldn't do that though.

This is the way I also shoot my bow, It's not that hard to shoot a righthanded bow with your left eyetrust me it's easy.Just put 2 sight bracks on to get the pins out farther..Your bow should be ok just check it over good.[;)]

Just teasin', are 150 gr. broadheads still available? I think the biggest I have seen, at Dicks anyway, was 125.
Keep us posted on your progress, However you decide to shoot I would like to know how it works out for you. Welcome back to the sport.

Mangus and Zawiki (Sp?) offer 145 or 150s. They look huge when compared to the open-on-impact ones, or my old Bear Spear Points. I'll be getting my bow from my folks house this week. I can't wait to get to the range and make people feel better about thier shooting abilites. [^]

I can't remeber the model off hand. It has split limbs, twin cams and I bought it around '98. Does that help? I'll get it this weekend and get back to you on the exact model.

It is a F-4 Maxis, the arrows are XX78 2512s and my broad heads are Mangus' that are about 2" wide at the bottom. My feeling was always, "Go big or go home."[:D]
