Striper fishing

I know, I know....not archery related, but I am going Striper fishing for the first time on the AR/MO border this weekend. Any pointers or tips would be appreciated!

    Menhaden and shad have always worked best for me.

    I catch them while crappie fishing with minnows. In my experience, they like flash. Don't forget your wire leader.

    White inline spinners with black dots. Different weights for different depths of trolling, 1/16 oz seems to work well in the lakes around here.

    Look for the seagulls, as where there are seagulls, there is shad.

    watch for jumping shad and troll through it.

    I do have to say your a little early for striper fishing, but hopefully you catch something. Around here stripers and hybrids don't start hitting hard untill July.

    Thanks for the replies....I am pretty pumped to go! Shoff, From what I've heard, this is a great time for this area, but seeing as i've never been. I will have to let you guys know how it turns out.
